Paranormally aesthetic places

Travel destinations for aspiring movie directors or writers.

Horror movies are becoming highly stereotypical with age and are possible on the verge of extinction considering the dearth of scripts since the present ones have already been used in all possible permutation and combinations. However the setting and origins of certain places can prove an inspiring insight for any director or writer to look ahead into the genre again and come up with a new vision. Not only this but the places I am about to mention ahead are not just huge chunks of inspiration but a whole set for the full movie itself, because otherwise set designing and choosing a location or framing a location can be a huge pain in the butt. But ahead mentioned are locations where any shot and with settings can be artistic and not only that but you can also summon spirits and ghosts to star in your movie itself because they are haunted for sure (oh yeah mind the transportation costs because they are located abroad).

  1. Poveglia Island: Located in Northern Italy the island used to be a quarantine dump for people who got affected of the virus that caused the bubonic plague. Considering the fact that the bubonic plague killed so many people that a whole new world was born after its outset you can imagine almost all the vegetation that exists on Poveglia Island rests on the decay and withered bodies of souls who were left to die amongst each other. Not only this but somewhere in the 19th century they build a mental hospital which was the abode of a more than crazy doctor keen on conducting lobotomy experiments on his deranged patients. And like all creepy movies except that this was in real, the doctor was caught in an insurgency and killed by its patients in the bloodiest way you can imagine. So yeah till this date no one lives here and even the birds have abandoned it. And the institution still stands out.

2.      Gunkanjima: Located in Japan another island which used to be a coal mind factory and late became a World War 2 prison camp for more than 500 Korean Prisoners. Considering the torture prisoners of war have to tolerate and the laziness of people while doing boring things like transporting food and maintaining supplies in an outcast island, you can imagine how many people must have died. It has contained marvellous man structures for 30 years which are still standing but are now abandoned completely and they will remain abandoned because it is quite daunting task to clear the debris and cause the demolition. Also because of weather conditions it is open for only 160 days a year and just in case any of your crew member gets left behind in that part of the year there is no way and I mean no way you can get him/her back. So you have his ghost for your sequel.

3.      Hellingly Hospital: Yet again another asylum located in England and literally containing the word Hell in it. Its build in 63 acres along with its own rail line, a ballroom, a salon and close to anything a college might have and it is all abandoned. Not must infamous reporting has been reported relating to its inmates or associates but the way it looks after abandonment asks a shit load of crazy questions which piece by piece will build up your script.

4.      Hallstatt: Ancient Austria city, so a lot of art and architecture should follow. Except that all art comes in the form of human bones and they are literally more than the number of bricks in your house or 10 different houses in your neighbourhood.
