SCREENING TEST

UPSC examines the knowledge of the candidates through its written traditional tests. But the intelligence level of the candidates is tested by the SSB by conducting various tests. These tests are very reliable and based on modern scientific techniques. An officer should not only be physically fit, but he must possess the basic intelligence in order to solve the odd situations.

WHAT IS INTELLIGENCE?


Intelligence is the inner ability of the candidate to solve the various problems like reasoning, aptitude etc. It is the ability which is present in a candidate right from birth and is not learned through a classroom teaching or self- study.

WHAT IS SCREENING TEST?


Screening is the preliminary round in SSB. It is the test which is conducted on the very first day of SSB. The prime objective of this test is to test the very basic intelligence of the candidates. The questions appearing in the intelligence test remain easy. However, surpassing this first test can let the candidates stay for further testing in the SSB centre.
Screening test normally begins around 8a.m.


Screening is divided into three sub parts-

• INTELLIGENCE TEST ( VERBAL & NON-VERBAL)
• PICTURE PERCEPTION & DISCUSSION TEST (PPDT
• INDIVIDUAL NARRATION & GROUP DISCUSSION

We will follow the same sequence as the tests are conducted at the selection centre. First of all, let’s discuss about the following:-

1. Intelligence Test
2. Picture Perception & Discussion Test.
3. Individual Narration & Group Discussion.
