Rainforests remind us at every step how spectacular planet earth really is. These lush landscapes and canopies offer a lot of opportunity to learn about nature and its wonders.

Daintree rainforest in Australia is a tropical rainforest that covers an area of 1200 square kilometers along the daintree river in Queensland. The ecosystem is famous for high levels of endemism. It is also believed to be the oldest rainforest on the planet.

Meandering through the world's largest river, Congo rainforest in central Africa covers an area of 500 million acres and shelters more than 600 tree species and 10000 animal species. A no. of medicinal plants and biochemicals are obtained from this rainforest, which also plays a pivotal role in regulating climate, both for the local region and globally.

In India, major tropical rainforests are located in the western ghats( primarily Karnataka and Kerala), north eastern States (mainly Assam, Meghalya, Mizoram and Manipur), some parts of odisha as well as in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Amazon rainforest in South America, popularly known as the Amazon jungle or Amazonia, spans across 8 countries- Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana - and is easily the world's largest rainforest. It is a UNESCO world heritage site.

Monteverdi cloud forest reserve in Costa Rica stretches across 26,000 acres of land. The reserve houses 100 mammal species, 400 bird species, 120 reptilian and amphibian species as well as a huge variety of insects. It is one of the country's most visited biodiversity hotspot.

Khao Yai National park in Thailand is it's oldest and most visited reserve and counted among Asia's largest intact monsoon forests. The landscape spreading across an area of 2168 square kilometers consists of 5 rainforest zones: evergreen, semi evergreen, mixed- deciduous, hill evergreen and savannah.

Sinharaja forest reserve in srilanka covers an area of 21 kilometers. The peaks of Sinharaja are Sinhagala, Pinipitigala and Mulawella. Over 60% of the trees found in this UNESCO world heritage site are considered rare along with its mammals, butterflies, reptiles and amphibians.

Dominica rainforest in Caribbean sea is blessed with an extraordinarily scenic landscape that includes peaks, valleys, waterfalls, birds, flora and fauna. This lush landscape is often promoted as the nature isle of the Caribbean. It also boasts of the world's 2nd largest hot spring called the boiling lake. The island covers an area of 750 square kilometers.
