1. Why do we yawn?
One is that when we are bored or tired, we just don't breathe as deeply as we usually do. As this theory goes, our bodies take in less oxygen because our breathing has slowed. Therefore, yawning helps us bring more oxygen into the blood and move more carbon dioxide out of the blood.
2. Why are new movies released in the theatres only on Friday?
The release of films in India follows the American style. There a film is released on Friday so that people can watch the film with their family during the work-free weekends (Saturday and Sunday) leading to good opening collection.
3. Why do icebergs stay solid even though they are immersed in water?
Icebergs are found in salty oceans. Salt helps in maintaining the freezing point of the ice, and the altitude of the water body and its elevation to the Arctic or Antarctic Circle decide the temperature of the water body and the freezing point of the iceberg. Water gets heated and cools down later than the Earth surface. So, once maintained, the cool temperature stays tuned for a longer duration.
4. India has a floating post office?
India has the largest postal network in the world with over 1, 55,015 post offices. A single post office on an average serves a population of 7,175 people. The floating post office in Dal Lake, Srinagar, was inaugurated in August 2011.
5. Water on the moon was discovered by India
In September 2009, India's ISRO Chandrayaan- 1 using its Moon Mineralogy Mapper detected water on the moon for the first time.
