Pablo Escobar and Narcos was Awesome

“Narcos” was an awesome television series. Choices might depend upon people to people but one has to agree that Pablo Escobar was someone very awesome and the very correct combination of wits, power and guts a man could possibly contain. Rulers and conquerors were a thing of the past when the world was devoid of certain laws and nations and civility didn’t exist as it does today. But by the 80s and 90s when UN and so many treaty organizations had already been established and still a man without any political background could bring two nations on their knees, you got to appreciate his calibre whether he was  the devil or not.

This raises an important point. Was Pablo Escobar a bad human destined to committed sins? If we were to believe in the accuracy of the show and analyse his earlier bits of life, nowhere will you find him as jealous, violent and blood thirsty outlaw or a stupid delusional terrorist who thought of himself as a mercenary of god.

Here are a few factors by the drug lord might have been a good and correct dude.

Pablo was simply a businessman:

You can by no way accuse Escobar for his means of getting rich. Had he been sucking the money of his own country or rather had he been sucking the money of poor people and general mass by corrupt means then his wealth won’t be justified. But he sold and he never forced someone at gun point to buy his product. And that too he had the talents to sell his products in Miami to people who can happily afford his product and they are equally responsible for buying it. That very easily is more ethical and legally correct compared to how people like Vijay Maalya or any other Tax evaders of the country have earned their money.

Creating Drug desperateness is a marketing strategy against humanity:

You would argue that drug addicts are very likely to spend their money and that psychological effect can be unethical in terms of earning money right? Well isn’t that something all markets do? Creating a need, creating a craving amongst people. We always buy things we don’t need and pay insane amounts of money for things which could otherwise we cheap. Apple iphone7 is the recent phenomenon these days and it’s a very se*y product and there is a desire amongst people to possess it. Never the less you everyday life won’t be running short of breaths if you didn’t possess that product. I admire it for its technological aesthetic but at the end it’s a luxury and when you spent your first night with it or first hangout with it amongst your people it gives you a pleasure in a similar way drugs give you. Yes then you would agree your appetite for drugs will never end and rather grow more and more. Well, you will also flush the iphone7 down the toilet when iphone8 or rather iphone7.101 comes out. That’s how all markets run and that’s how people get rich.

Hate was simply due to jealousy and money matters:

The richest country, the host to the most powerful companies of the world and people like Bill gates, Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffet, Larry Page and Sergey Brin who individually hold more money than 134 countries could in no way watch its money drain into the pockets of some country like Colombia and that too in the personal pockets of one solo man. If a country is rich than the other country it’s because they have something valuable that other nationals might be likely to buy and then the brand value works. Cocaine was the golden product that Colombia had and America did not. And Americans had the capital and they were party freaks who had high affinity for the drug. So it was very important for it to be tagged illegal so that they would have a reason to stop its distribution. Just think if Pablo was born in America instead of Colombia. If he was capable of exporting the drug from under an American roof to the whole world with many powerful political strong holds I bet American by some deceptive means would have convinced the whole world into legalizing drugs. If not legalization he would sure be alive. Ever wondered why something like internet porn is legal. Ever wondered how much it contributes to the economy America as obtained from other porn consuming countries like middle east and India ( mind the huge population of sex starved males in these countries) which don’t not have their own legal porn production ( forget porn you can’t even marry the person of your choice).

He loved his country:

The people who will not agree to this are those who think you can only prove your commitment to your country by dying for it in the battlefield. For that you need an enemy. If you don’t need to create an enemy. That’s why we love to hate Pakistan and Muslims or Hindus or any other. The only reason why Pablo choose a blood bath is because the Americans wanted him to stop getting rich and above that Pablo tried to offer money before getting violent. He only killed those who either cheated him or come in between what he was doing. Leave him as his own will and he will leave you at peace. But we need to prove our love for country by lynching those who ate beef and by force making it mandatory for everyone to follow norms like chanting the country name. Pablo might not have been a patriot but he never started a war in the first place or even hated anyone for any stupid reasons. He was a true country man by letting people live in peace as and how they liked until and unless it compromised with his business (and then the Americans eventually forced him to compromise his business and Pablo lost his shit). He didn’t need hate to justify his love for his country. And he dreamed to be the president of his country. That’s quite a responsibility normal people would never choose to accept.  SPOILER ALERT: That sequence where he dreams being inducted into the presidential chamber and shares his joint with president Gaviria. Just imagine what a president he would make he didn’t lose his temper while on rule. An awesome one!!!

He was a great Family Person:

If what the series showed is accurate, no where would you find a husband, a father and a son all at the same time so committed and loving. Especially the love for his wife till the very last moments of his life and for his kids in that scene where they lay down and make shapes in the cloud. That shows character. I know he murdered the lives and families of others (only when he was resisted against) but still out of all his difficult times never shouted on his wife or kids or even his mother who at one moment creates a huge blunder leading to his eventual demise. Even Shah Jahan might have not treated Mumtaz that way. And ISIS terrorists will murder everyone and even their own families and you know what they do to women in there. Pablo’s love for his family in the pursuit of money and power never decreased.

He might have been wrong but then he was powerful and that’s where the double standards of people come in to play. (but Colonel Carrilio rocks for his commitment of duty)

Go watch the show. It’s epic and more than epic is thought provoking.
