You might all have heard about Jim Carrey. He is the guy who makes weird faces and can make you laugh with a blink of an eye. He is certainly one of Hollywood's best-known actors and comedians. But behind his bright and successful life, there is a hidden dark past which few know about. Jim is certainly to be an inspirational figure for the world and there is so much to learn from him.

Jim had a very dark childhood. Born in Canada in a poor family, he had always had to struggle financially. At the age of just 12 he was forced to get a job after school at a factory where he worked 8 hours every day. His father had lost his job at the age of 51 and his family had more troubled times. Soon the family had to move to their relatives where they lived on a VW van. But Jim never gave up. He had always had a flair for comedy and the young Jim aspired to become one. He mailed his resume to the Carroll Burnett Show. He had to switch between his young comedian role and the factory job.

Soon Carrey got his first act. He performed on stage for the first time at the age of 15. He wore a suit which his mom had made him. He acted very well. Next year when he was 16 years old, he quit school to concentrate fully on the comedy for a full time. Very soon he moved to LA. Jim found himself on stage frequently and later became a regularly paid comedian. After doing a few side roles in some Hollywood movies, he finally got his major role in Ace Ventura series. His films Dumb and Dumber and the Mask received commercial success which grossed over $270 million worldwide. Success soon followed his career when he was nominated for an Oscar and received the Golden Globe award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama. He became one of the most talented stars and actors in Hollywood that we know today.

In addition to his acting career, he also later focused on screenwriting and became a producer. He also loved painting. Jim is an exceptional talent and a source of inspiration for all. There are so many things that one can learn from him. He is also one of the children's favourite actors and he certainly deserves to be a role model for all.
