The Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara actor Farhan Akhtar deleted his personal Facebook account after the trending hashtag #DeleteFacebook started getting attention on social media platforms.
Farhan Akhtar made an announcement on Tuesday that he has deleted his personal Facebook account through a trending tweet and that his verified Facebook page, Farhan Akhtar Live for users to know about his concerts and events is still however active.
The Rock On star did not give any reason for deleting the account through his tweet but it appears that the action was taken in the wake of the hashtag #DeleteFacebook that has been trending in top across various social media platforms for quite some time now.
A Guardian report which was released stated that Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook stored and secretly shared the personal information of nearly 50 million users, without their consent which prompted several users to delete their accounts from the social networking site Facebook.
Farhan Akhtar is not the only celebrity to delete his Facebook account, Elon Musk, boss of Tesla and SpaceX also deleted the Facebook pages of both companies last week.
The owner of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg admitted last week that the scandal over privacy flaws was a major breach of trust and the data was shared with US-based election consultancy firm, Cambridge Analytica, which even has a link to Indian political parties BJP and Congress.
