EMOJI SEXISM

"Everyone like emojis but not everyone is properly represented in emojis". This statement is said by Stephen Colbert in his recent segment on THE LATE SHOW. Colbert notices that there are many male emojis. Emojis can be male cops, detective, santa, British guard. But women? Not so many options are present when it comes to female emoticons.

Misrepresentation of women in emoticons raise the question: ARE EMOJIS SEXIST? Many women believe that they are not represented equal to men when it comes to emojis. Women can't be police officers, detectives or construction workers. But can be brides or princesses. At least according to emojis. Many female emojis only wear pink, wear bikini and none are represented in professional roles. There is a lot of pink, hearts, lipstick, kisses - a lot of emojis that are very stereotypically girly.

This gender based distinction in emojis definitely tell about the mentality of men who create them. According to them, women should not be allowed to participate in MEN'S PROFESSIONAL SPHERE and are considered pinky anf girlish. Thankfully google announced they'll be soon producing more diverse female emojis. Hopefully that will be ending sexism at least in the emojis.
