Indian-origin British actor Dev Patel has received an Oscar nomination for his role in ‘Lion’, which is a movie set in India and Australia. He has been nominated for the Best Actor in Supporting Role at the 89th Academy Awards, to be held on 26th February.
The nominees were announced on Tuesday by Terrence Howard.
The movie ‘Lion’ is based on Saroo Brierley’s autobiography ‘A Long Way Home’. It is a true story about an Indian boy who falls asleep on a train and wakes up in a place miles away from his home. He faces many challenges before getting adopted by an Australian couple.
The movie, directed by Gareth Davis, will release in India on February 24.
