You parents might be dumb and killing your career. (very offensive, read but don’t acknowledge)
What does it tell about people or your own parents who at each and every point compare your little scholastic achievements with the neighbourhood’s wiz kid next door? It tells that they are dumb pricks whose duty of parenting is much more important than the life their kids are going to live. They were inferior their whole lives. Inferior as a child, inferior as a growing teen, desperately wanting to get married and then want to fill the empty voids by accomplishing the fact that they were parents of kids who became successful respected members of the society (in simple terms being rich). That’s what they are doing. Wearing tags of proud accomplished parents and you are just waiting to be turned into a golden trophy they can cling to in their sleep.
If you are kids of poor or middle class parents who love to live in community and read a lot of newspapers, especially those articles where a rickshaw drivers or some tea sellers kid has cracked UPSC or something other shitty competition you should simply write your artistic dreams on a piece of paper and urinate on it. You have no dreams. You are indebted to them whole your life because if you don’t listen to them you will be the bad son and they will be the antagonized parents. And if by chance you by force accomplish their dreams you will be forced to say the words “I thank my parents for who I am today” but actually you never wanted to be who you are today. And it’s too late so stop thinking of going to film school or photography projects or exercising for your favourite sport. You might readily come across people who tell their children’s school results or college names regardless of your consent. Or if not by themselves they will ask about your academics so that they can in return to tell about their kids. What’s worse is that your parents don’t have a shit bit of confidence on you. You are too ambitious over something no one’s tried they will scare you to f**k because some class issues might be at stake if you have to face failure.
Not only this you might eventually get to marry a dumb girl too because a smart girl might outclass them and could be career conscious. Otherwise you are the bad son who doesn’t care about his aging parents. And worse, you are forced to have a kid because your aging grandmother has some creepy wish to hold your baby in her arms after which she will depart happily but you will compromise your life since your kid has his/her whole life in in front of him/her. The purpose of parenthood is to make the new generation wiser than the previous but they will force you to come down to their level.
