A recent study of Institute of Public Health in Germany and Harvard T H Chan School of Public Health in the US claims that women with migraines have high risks of heart diseases and in some cases may even cause deaths. Researchers said that migraines must be considered to be risk for cardiovascular disease. They have analysed the data from around 1,15,000 women aged between 25 to 42 years who were free from any cardiovascular diseases from 1989 to 2011.
Only 15 % of these women were found to be at a baseline. Remaining were either seen to be attacked by any of the cardiovascular risks or were found dead due to migraine pain.
Association of migraine was found similar at cross subgroups of women, including the age, hypertension, smoking status, oral contraceptive use, postmenopausal hormone therapy and many more said the researchers.
From NDTV news, we get to knew that they also added saying
"These results further add to the evidence that migraine should be considered an important risk marker for cardiovascular disease, at least in women. There is no reason why the findings cannot be applicable to men," .
