Go vegetarian!

A vegetarian diet is associated with a higher consumption of fiber, folic acid, vitamins C and E, magnesium, unsaturated fat and countless phytochemicals. There's nothing wrong with Eating meat if you're doing so in moderation but researches have shown that vegetarians tend to be healthier than non-vegetarians. Here are other advantages of being a vegetarian:

1. Less chances of being overweight.

Vegetarians tend to be leaner than non-vegetarians and there are very less chances of becoming overweight. They also have lower cholesterol and body mass index (BMI). Not only vegetarian diet helps in maintaining a healthy weight but also helps with weight loss.


2. Less chance of heart diseases.

Meat can contribute to high cholesterol levels which can further lead to increase in chances of heart diseases. Vegetarian diet on the other hand lessen the chances of heart diseases.


3. May improve mood.

Non-vegetarian diets are high in arachidonic acid which is a substance that usually comes from dietary animal sources. Vegetarian diet is not high in arachidonic acid which is beneficial for vegetarians. Arachidonic acid and mood disturbances are linked together and mood improvement only happens when eating meat, fish and poultry are restricted.


4. May improve symptoms of psoriasis.

Psoriasis is a skin disease that causes skin redness and irritation and can be debilitating for those who suffer from it. A vegetarian diet may positively improve its symptoms.


5. Less chance of developing kidney stones.

Taking vegetarian diet over animal protein consumption results in higher urine pH. Whereas low urine pH has been associated with stone formation.


6. Low blood pressure.

Researches have shown that low blood pressure is found among vegetarians which is helpful to maintain good health.


7. Lower risk of developing cancer.

Several studies have shown a reduced risk of developing many different types of cancer among vegetarians, compared to meat eaters.


8. Live longer.

Vegetarians have a much lower risk of becoming obese, developing diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular diseases. With the reduce in health risks, vegetarians tend to live longer, healthier and happier than non-vegetarians. Keeping all these benefits of vegetarianism in mind, its high time that you switch to vegetarianism from non-vegetarianism and enjoy its benefits as well.
