“Get over feeling guilty for eating a slice of white bread.”
Be it diet conscious, gym freaks, healthy lifestyle living people, all have marginalised white bread presuming it to be more fattening over whole wheat or brown bread.
What come in bakery home these days is the costlier brown breads and not the usual white breads, for people are not ready to compromise their health at any cost.
But is eating brown bread really healthy? Perhaps, guys you are all mistaken!!
Are your vendors loyal enough to give you the actual brown bread! Are you aware of the high calorie content in the emulsifiers and preservatives used in brown bread
Brown bread made of whole wheat rarely last for couple of days because of its moisture holding consistency. As a result to make it sustain long, it is embedded with so many chemicals. So you happily munch your so called low fat brown bread, thinking it to be less fatty, certainly forgetting the chemicals you are ingesting along.
White bread has comparatively less preservatives and chemicals for refined wheat resist moisture. Accordingly the chance of chemical intake is less.
You might be surprised to know that 1 slice of white bread amount to only 50 cals whereas the 9cmx9cm thicker and denser slice of brown bread amounts to 80 cals plus the ones in chemicals used in it.
“In whole-wheat brown bread you don't get a lot of leavening, it has a grainy texture, and it doesn't expand as much as Maida, and doesn't bounce back as easily when squeezed. It spoils easily, because the oils in wheat-germ go rancid pretty fast. More preservatives are added to improve the shelf life. Emulsifiers are added to improve its texture. One can imagine the mount of extra chemicals that go into you bodies not forgetting almost the double calories” – courtesy- Suman Aggarwal, idiva.
There have been instances where your local vendors just fool people around by giving breads coated with brown shade, in the name of brown bread. Never forget to read the labels on the bread and check for authenticated quality marks.
Following a trend is wise but following it blindly is just like living in a fool’s paradise.
Live healthy, stay healthy, save money , save calories.
Keep calm and eat white bread!
