WORK IS WORSHIP

“An idle mind is a devil’s workshop”, this aptly highlights the need and role of work in our lives. Not only does it provide us the means of livelihood but helps to keep the devil (other vices) at bay. Life is work and work is worship. Life is action and not contemplation, for man’s worth is determined by his actions. It is this, which differentiates him from other creatures of the planet. It enables him to better his own quality of life, by engaging in some profession, so that the society as a whole shares the fruit of his Labour.

All work is dignified, for it is better than being on doles, or at somebody else’s mercy. Not only it helps us living a life of dignity, but also gives us tremendous self-confidence and self-esteem. We also observe in practical life that men do not break down from overwork, but from worry and dissipation. This is so because work generates optimism that makes life pleasant. Ordinary people have risen to great heights by excelling in their work. We have such illustrious examples of Florence nightingale, Albert Einstein and thousands of others. They have by their sheer dint of hard work and devotion become immortal.

In this age of globalization and severe competition, there is need for protection in every field. Whether it is in the manufacture of a product, or the rendering of the service. we can only hope to be successful if our work measures up to the right standards. This, therefore, calls for sincerity, devotion and strict discipline towards our work, so that we can deliver the right product at the best price as the fruit of our labour. Thus just as we offer prayers to the almighty god, in all humility and sincerity and wait patiently for his reward. Similarly, we must do so in our work.

Work is divine and our moral duty is to accomplish for “Honour and shame from no conditions arise. Act well your part there all the honour lies”. Thus all work is divine and we must work hard to enjoy fruits of our labour that indeed taste sweet. Without effort, we can achieve nothing as it says “no pain, no gain”. Just do not get frightened by the hard work. Just work hard and wait for the results and surely it will be positive.
