VALUE OF PUBLIC LIBRARIES

A few decades ago, a library meant a building containing books for reading or reference. Today, the word has wider meaning the  library may be a collection of films, toys, slides. records etc. The value of public libraries cannot be undermined. They offer an opportunity to the public to choose from a wide variety of reading material, films, records etc. at a nominal membership fee in View of the fact that books or for that matter records, films etc are very expensive. Public Libraries play a very crucial role in helping the people get varied material for relaxation, information and entertainment.

It cannot be disputed that public libraries play a very crucial role in society today. A book library provides access to vast variety of reading material in view of the fact that books have become expensive. It is not possible to buy even all the text books one might like to refer to hence  a library which subscribes to latest journals magazines periodicals on different subjects has a reference section where people can sit and consult books is invaluable. Almost all libraries have membership charges if you want to borrow books for certain period of time to take home and study them in depth at your convenience.
