Potters are truly wizards. They create magical shapes with simple and rudimentary tools. These artisans, spread out in all the regions, fashion a cornucopia of artifacts and make humble clay gain the beauty of amber or the sheen of ebony. In some particular communities in India, this traditional knowledge is inherited from generation to generation though their traditional occupation. Pottery is the most sensual of all arts. Pottery is one of those important mediums through which men have expressed their emotions.
Potters are found in Delhi too. “Kumhar Gaaon” in Uttam Nagar is a district in West Delhi which is home to about 1,000 potters and their families. It is easily reached now because swanking new metro goes there.
