It’s the time when cutoffs and results are the only thing on everyone's mind. Students don’t have time to think about anything else other than college and everything else related with it. Recently DU has announced the first cut off list and it has started with 99.25% being the highest for any course. A big and hearty congratulations to everyone who made the list. But what about the mediocre? Exam results and marks don't define your life. It’s you who define them. It surely is disheartning to not make it into your dream college, but instead of being depressed about it, we should start looking for the next best alternative. Do not let an exam or result make you feel that your future is doomed. Everyone believes that this phase of our life is very important. And yes, it is. But if you score low, don’t get depressed. Everyone is not a born genius. Marks matter for getting a college. But, if you are talented and hardworking but haven’t scored good enough, don’t stress yourself over a paper with a bunch of numbers on them. There are things which are bigger than your numbers or report card. Eventually in life, nobody looks back and asks you how many marks you scored in your exams, because it simply doesn't matter! It is only till the end of school and college life that these marks make some difference to your life, beyond that who you are and who you are capable of becoming defines your life. What happens till the end of school and college is just a part, what happens after that is when real life really begins. Don't let exam results define your life, because trust me it doesn't. Don't lose heart if you've got a bad result, don't feel bad if you haven't performed as well as you wished to, don't think your future's over because of some exam result, everything can be fine, everything will be fine. You will end up doing things you could have never imagined. Just trust the people wiser and elder than you, and know that if they can make it in life without marks being on their side, then you can too do the same. So please, don’t be hard on yourself. No matter what happens you have your entire life ahead of you. You’ll always have the love of your family, friends, and elders. And most importantly, you will always have yourself.
So, what are marks? They are nothing. You are much bigger than those numbers and sheets. For winning wars, you need to be experienced. And failing in some tiny battles gives you experience.
