Ever wondered why do we have tiny pockets in our jeans? Here's why

Often have we discovered that there is a tiny little pocket right inside the bigger pocket which we use, present in our jeans. But mostly people tend to ignore its presence; I mean come-on, in a world engulfed in a fast paced lifestyle like ours hardly anyone gets time to think about a pocket moreover, a teeny tiny one at that; or do we?

Nonetheless you are here so you may be granted knowledge of course; actually these pockets are just a part of an obsolete design which doesn’t have any use now.

Back in the 1800s when wrist watches weren’t available in abundance like today, people, especially cowboys, used pocket watches which they kept in their waist-coats. To tackle it from falling, the garments giant - Levi Strauss invented these small pockets so that people may carry their pocket watches without the risk of getting them broken.

As wrist watches gained their market and pocket watches got out dated the function these pockets served got obsolete, although the pockets weren’t removed and are still coming out with every jeans today as well.

Regardless of this fact, these pockets aren’t totally useless. Many new uses are developed by humans themselves. Even the Levi Strauss website noticed it and on their website it reads, “Originally included as protection for pocket watches, thus the name, this extra pouch has served many functions, evident in its many titles: frontier pocket, condom pocket, coin pocket, match pocket and ticket pocket, to name a few.”

Well, you’re a little bit smarter now so don’t keep it to yourself, share it as well!
