Bollywood's Impact on India

Bollywood is a major attraction as well as a brilliant way of exchanging information. This media source acts as a mirror to society. Sometimes, the Bollywood copies real life stories while in some cases people follow the actors. As said in Spiderman, "With great powers comes great responsibilities." True that, because Bollywood being such an entertaining way of media and it having such a high reach, it becomes important for the movies to influence the society towards a better way. Some films are basically made for entertaining the masses. But, there are few films in the lot that are actually produced to inform the masses. The films like Manjhi, Mary Kom, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, etc. which are made on the life's of some legends have done the work of influencing people very well. Some more films like 3 idiots, Oh My God and not to forget, the Oscar award winner 'Slumdog Millionaire' reflected the real face of India. The recent launch, Udta Punjab is a perfect example of harsh reality of India; and that's why it was indirectly unwanted to be released. It showed the truth. Movies like this needs to be more in number because to bring the change, we need to show the Indians the hidden dirty practices of it. There is no better option than cinema to pull people's attention towards the left out topics that need to be highlighted.
