Kattappa Ne Baahubali ko kyun maara?? Here's the Best Fan Theory till now

One question that has been in everyone’s mind after watching Baahubali: The Beginning is “Kattappa ne Baahubali ko kyun maara?”

Everywhere we saw on the internet people were asking just this one question. Now it’s been more than one year since the movie released in July 2015 and that one question still bothers people. There have been many fan theories as to why Kattappa killed Baahubali, and here’s one such fan theory which is very interesting and might also be accurate. Mahadevan B. Iyer, a final year Integrated M.Tech in Biotechnology student from Apeejay Stya University, Gurgaon has a very intriguing theory.

Before going on to the theory here are a few points he wants you to remember:

  1. Kattappa's race of people has sworn loyalty to the THRONE of Mahishmati and will do anything asked by the supreme chief of throne.
    2. The queen mother Sivagami, while approaching her end, says that though she has done many black deeds still requests the god to save the child as he will bring back fortune to the kingdom.
    3. Bhalaladeva hates Devasena for choosing Bahubali over him and also mentions that had she chosen him she wouldn't have had this kind of a life.
    4. It has been established that Amrendra had never seen his son Mahendra.
    5. Over half the Kalkeya army and their warlords escaped with the general after the Kalkeya king died.
    6. Devasena is not at all part of the Mahishmati women folk as per the 1st movie.
    7. Followers of Bahubali and Devasena are enslaved (the ones working on the golden statue)
    8. Some of them would have escaped, the tribals trying to save Devasena.

Now here’s the theory according to Mahadevan: Now what I am guessing is that, Devasena should have been a princess or some nobility class woman of some other kingdom, Bhalaldeva would have proposed war while Bahubali would have sought for negotiations, they both were smitten by Devasena, she chose Bahu, negotiations fail and Mahishmati is threatened so Sivagami suspends Bahubali as king and appoints Bhalaldeva as king as he is a more stringent warrior than Bahubali. And since Bhalal is king now, he is very much bitten by the fact that he was turned down b Devasena and also by the fact that what if tomorrow again Bahubali was made king. And also that Bahubali was soon to have a son so that might again put him in a better position to rule. Therefore, Bhalal asks Kattappa to finish him off in between during the battle, Kattappa being a sworn loyal to throne has no choice but to follow, since he loved Bahubali he chose to stab him in the back than to face him while he kills him.” Intersting, isn’t it? Of course we’ll get to know the real reason only when Baahubali: The Conclusion releases next year, but till then this is something we can ponder on.
