August to October is the time period when the risk of getting infected with dengu is high, for the  “female  Aedes mosquito” causing the disease is highly active in that time frame.

The World Health Organisation says, "Dengue is a viral infection transmitted by the bite of an infected female Aedes mosquito. There are four distinct serotypes of the dengue virus (DEN 1, DEN 2, DEN 3 and DEN 4). The symptoms of the illness only appear 3–14 days after the mosquito bite and not immediately. Dengue fever is a flu-like illness that affects infants, young children and adults alike."

The most common symptoms include fever, headache, muscle and joint pains and skin rash. Doctors can diagnose the symptoms through a blood test. However there is no prescribed treatment for dengu because it is caused by virus.

It is generally recommended that the patients should resort to full bed rests and consume lot of fluids.

1. 1. TULSI LEAVES- HERBAL DRINK

Having a medicinal plant like Tulsi in your surrounding keeps away the dengu spreading mosquitoes. Moreover, having tulsi leaves with water in morning will strengthen the immune system and protect your body against infections. Boil the leaves with two grams of black pepper in water and serve your family as a herbal drink.


2. 2. PAPAYA LEAVES

It helps in increasing the platelet count and reduces the symptoms of fever like body ache, chills, feeling low, getting tired easily and nausea. You can crush the leaves and consume or drink the juice which helps in flushing out the toxins.


3. 3. METHI POWDER

Methi leaves or methi powder also act as dengu resistant. These leaves are known to reduce fever and act as a sedative to ease pain and promote more restful sleep for patients. You can soak the leaves in water and then drink it or you can get methi powder and mix it with water and have it.
