Students never waited for the declaration of their 12th board results like they do for the Delhi University’s cutoff. After all the two digits released by the University can make or destroy their career, dreams, and expectations.
DU had announced this year that it will only release five cut-offs unlike previous years when the varsity issued up to ten cut-off lists. The first cutoff that came on the Wednesday evening (29th June 2016) shook everyone with the major upsurge of marks as compared to the last year. Following that heartbreak, the second cutoff was released on Monday (5Th July). Three days were given to the students who are eligible to get admission under the announced cutoff of the particular college.
The second cut-off list of the Delhi University, released Monday night, revealed that admissions to many popular undergraduate courses in arts and science remained open in the varsity’s top colleges. The second cutoff was recorded a marginal drop. The arts and commerce courses saw a dip of 0.5-1%. There were broad smiles on the faces of the science aspirants that saw a drop of 1-3%. Importantly, the biology students got an additional advantage since the fall is most significant in botany in the majority of the colleges. Taking the lead in the percentage of the second cutoff was none other than Lady Shree Ram College which announced 98.25% in Psychology Hons. The second cutoff also left the majority of the students disheartened as well.
The university received 2,50,879 applications for 54.000 seats in 63 different colleges. Although innumerable complaints have been coming into the notice regarding the crashing of the website and the inefficiency in its working, yet the reason for an entirely online admission procedure has not been understood. “You need to maintain a working portal if you are switching to the online mode fully. The authorities are least concerned about the problems, in spite of getting complaints regarding the same” reported a volunteer of Ramjas College.
All that the students can do is to either wait for the third cutoff or take admission in whatever course and college they are getting in order to reserve a seat. Students go for the status and are eager to take admission in Delhi University in any branch they get.
So, first think and decide, and then do whatever you feel like doing. After all, this is an important decision of your life.
