A complaint is lodged against the song "Manikya Malaraya Poovi" in the Hyderabad's Falaknuma police station against Priya and the song makers by the Muslim group for hurting the sentiments of the Muslims. The group claims that the lyrics of the song is an Islamic poem and it is translated into English and it insults the Prophet Syed Faiyaz. The police have filed a case based on the complaint under Section 295 of the Indian Penal code, which deals with deliberately hurting religious sentiments. It is registered against director Omar Lulu and others. The complaint was registered with signatures of at least 57 people with their telephone numbers, and addresses provided to the police. An engineering student in Hyderabad who filed the complaint told that “It is not acceptable for us to see a romantic song picturised on some actors with lyrics of the song linked to the Prophet".

The DSP said that "The police are accurately investigating the case and accordingly action would be taken against the concerned as per the facts and the law”. The Muslim youths filed a complaint demanding a ban on the song from the Malayalam film for the objectionable references in the lyrics to Prophet Mohammad and his wife Khadija Bibi. As they did not understand the lyrics in Malayalam, the complainants said they found some references to the Prophet’s wife in the song which hurt the sentiments of Muslims. The film’s director, Omar Lulu denied that the song is objectionable. He said that it is an old song which we have rearranged the music and this song is about expressing love without the restrictions and he also told that he and his team didn't receive any notice so far and if they will receive actions will be taken till then no need to give attention to this thing.
