White worms parasites found in Oregon woman's eyes.!!

It sounds like a curse when spelt. Imagine waking up with a worm in your eye? You will cry out loud! Well, this is what happened with Abby Beckley of Grants Pass, two summers ago. Her story, published as a case report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is a historic one. Beckley was spending her summer vacations at fishing boat in Alaska. She was 26 when she felt a prickling in her eye who then decided to look into mirror and pulled a white worm from her eyeball. It was then a never ending process. According to Beckley, she was frustrated of all, this was happening from past few days. Then she went to her bunkmate taking that white worm on her index finger, showed to her to which she nodded with surprise. According to beckley, the worm died within 5 seconds. It was revealed by beckley that worm even scratched her cornea that gave her a case of pink eye. She started visiting to locality doctors who also couldn't verify what the thing was. Then She went to Oregon Science and Health University in Portland. The team extracted the 2 worms and sent it to lab. So everytime beckley felt a twinge , she would knock at OSHU and got pulled 14 worms in total. After some months, scientists were shocked to discover that she had been infected with Thelazia gulosa, a parasite that typically lives and breeds on cow's eyeball. This family of parasites spends half their lives on the eyeballs of horses, cows and even yaks, and face flies that hum around the eyes and ears of farm animals. According to Bradbury, the male and female adult worms will sexually reproduce on the eye 's surface. But it is a rare disease, first reported in 20 years of United States.

There have been instances of Thelazia infections in Europe and Asia & also 10 cases in US where in which nine were in California and one in Utah but never been in Oregon. The Oregon citizen need to be careful about flies and worms which can be very dreadful. To the doctors of Breckley ,the case was more like curiosity.
