Shahid Afridi, the former Pakistan captain retired from international cricket in 2017, played 27 Tests, 398 ODIs and 98 T20Is for Pakistan, faced backlashes from Gautam Gambhir, Indian opener and Delhi Daredevils Captain. Gautam felt irritated as when Afridi tweeted on the Kashmir violence in which Indian security forces killed 13 terrorists in Kashmir Valley on Sunday. Afridi’s tweet came two days after Sunday’s incident. On Sunday, 3 Indian Army Jawans martyred and 4 civilians died while the 13 terrorists were killed in 3 different encounters. According to Gambhir, Afridi was acting like a juvenile on the Kashmir issue.
Shahid tweeted, ”Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime to clamp voice of self determination & independence. Wonder where is the @UN & other int bodies & why aren't they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?”
Gambhir’s response to Afridi’s tweet, “Media called me for reaction on @SAfridiOfficial tweet on OUR Kashmir & @UN. What’s there to say? Afridi is only looking for @UN which in his retarded dictionary means “UNDER NINTEEN” his age bracket. Media can relax, @SAfridiOfficial is celebrating a dismissal off a no- ball!!!”
