After many years, enormous trials and lots of court proceedings, the Court sentenced Salman Khan to a 5-year long imprisonment as he was involved in the blackbuck poaching case back in the year 1998. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10000 on him. The co-accused were acquitted. Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Tabbu, Neelam Kothari and Sonali Bendre were accused of hunting a blackbuck almost 20 years ago. But due to lack of evidence, rest of them were acquitted by the court. He spent a night at the Jodhpur Central Jail.
He is facing the punishment under the Wildlife Protection Act’s (1972) Section 9/51. Salman’s lawyer Anand Desai said that he will appeal for bail and suspension of the decision as he has been sentenced for more than three years. He also exclaimed that this decision made by the court astonished him because the court has acquitted Khan for similar cases previously.
Salman (52) is in the same jail in which the rape accused so-called godman Asaram Bapu and he would be accompanied by Rajsamand Case convict Shambulal Regar who is accused of murdering a Muslim guy after being infuriated by the ‘love jihad’. Dangerous and most wanted terrorists from Kashmir also serve their imprisonment sentence in the same jail.
The DIG of the Jodhpur Jail said that Salman Khan will not be given any special privileges and treatments. He will be kept just like a normal criminal.
After this decision of the court came out into the Indian media, the social networks got flooded with the posts related to Salman Khan. The public has mixed opinion about this decision and there are rigorous arguments amongst them.
Before this, Salman Khan was also accused of hunting gazelles but was accused after serving a short jail sentence 12 years ago. With his cult like status, ‘Sallu Bhai’ got buried or acquitted in many cases and gets out with a clean chit amidst the regular controversies he gets indulged in.
If the law does not take back the decision, then Salman’s upcoming project will be in danger. The sources say that these projects are estimated to be around 600 crores.
This indeed is a big blow for the directors and producers who have scheduled their projects in the upcoming tenure of his jail sentence. The major films who are in danger are Race 3, Kick 2, Dabangg 3 and Bharat.
