Gigi Hadid's fitting reply to her body size shut the mouth of media and the body shamers!

Another name added to the list of brave confident women, who have the eloquence and candidness to stand up against body shaming and that too artistically. Along the recent years there were many celebrities who protested against the act of body shaming, there was Selena Gomez, Kristen Bell, Emma Stone and we now have Gigi Hadid.

In the wake of New York Fashion Week when critics were ready with their vicious mouths to criticize every aspect of the models walking on the ramp, Gigi Hadid responded quite well to the comments directed towards her body size. Her reactions to the blatant body shamming and online trolling by the social media users was a series of tweets which helped us to get a clearer picture of her actual life and also gained her a lot of respect and support from her friends and fans.

Gigi Hadid explained that she had been suffering from Hashimoto’s disease which is an autoimmune disease where the antibodies attack the thyroid gland and causes inflammation and water retention. The signs are extreme fatigue, metabolism problems, unexplained weight gain, depression, etc.

The super model said that body shaming is nothing new for her when she had started there were comments like ‘too big for industry’. At that time she was seventeen and not yet diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease. Her physical appearance then was a mere manifestation of the effects of the disease. But now after proper medication and treatment she had been able to overcome the symptoms like fatigue, metabolism issues, etc. Also she had been part of a holistic medical trial which had helped balance thyroid levels. But then also people are not happy and they are sprouting remarks like ’too thin’ or the fluctuation of body weight season to season.

Although, her body could react to excess travel and stress which part of the package which comes with her work, she exclaimed that she feels far better now. Her body weight may not be up to the unrealistic social standards but she feels healthy from inside. Also Gigi Hadid confirmed that she is not a victim of drug abuse either as many of body shammers and internet trollers would like to think.

The model’s emotional confession and bold tweets were encouraged by many, Lily Aldridge, Ruby Rose, and Christine Teigen were some people who showed their empathy and care by responding positively to her tweets.

Gigi’s lines like "Please, as social media users & human beings in general, learn to have more empathy for others and know that you never really know the whole story. Use your energy to lift those that you admire rather than be cruel to those you don't." was enough to slam the body shammers. Inspiring females like her are a dire need of the society.
